The resort is huge, in a gated community…. Split into two sections Maya and beach, the beach is closer to the ocean but the Ocean views are limited to the Timeshare club. We were never asked for “the pitch” but they did make it clear of a couple benefits to buy into this “club”. Great grounds to walk around, find monkeys in the trees, and go for a run or grab a bike, you can play pickle ball, tennis
The beach is an odd, large horseshoe shape leaving beach access limited, but it is rather clean and clear water which you can snorkel and get out in the cove (weather dependent).
The pools are huge and plentiful, I am not a huge pool fan but they were amazing in this resort. We did take the true lazy river which is nice, could use a beer stop along the way!! Ps, tubes are included for the lazy river. The kids’ pool was small, with small slides but there.
The food at the a la cartes we found mediocre, our late dinner almost cold. The buffet was large and plentiful with lots of fresh options.
The room was newly refreshed, comfortable with weird light switches which took a while to figure out. The sliding door needed repair but nothing to be overly worried about and wouldn’t ruin our vacation.
All in all, we liked the place, it does suit our family style but it would have to be at the right price, mostly the kids price (under 12) which we find keeps this property out of range for this quality of hotel. We didn’t encounter too many of the issues from the “horror stories” (we were asked to buy drugs, not uncommon) and would be comfortable back here with the kids!
