Location-Playacar Complex – Playa Del Carmen, Mexican.
Category- Family,Groups,Wedding with Adults only Section.
Family properties in Mexico are our bread and butter! We love finding resorts for you and your families…we do this by actually visiting these spots with our own families.
Overview
Sandos Playacar is a great family property when priced well! Lots to offer in the gated community of Playacar. With some of the most beautiful beaches in the area this resort will check all your boxes for your family vacay.
Beach- Our favourite beach in the Playa area! Each direction you look you see sand for what feels like miles. Soft white sand, blue waters and lots of space to build sand castles, play sports and swim. Snorkelling wasn’t the greatest but we took a snorkelling excursion right from the beach on a boat with the great people located right at Sandos.
Pools-Multiple pools- One adults only, 3 regular family pools and some pools specific to the RE(vacation club members). The one thing I found odd is the swim up bars are only located in the family pools not the adult pool- This however is because the main family pool by the family rooms used to be the adults only pool.
Kids Activities- Two mini waterparks- I say mini because my 10 year old was told he was too big to use the slides…not ideal. Kids Club ages 4-10 was a hit with my 4 year old . Crafts and activities and themed days planned, pool area and always something to do. Lite teen club aged 10-17, fun for those in the age group, air hockey and video games. Perfect for after dinner while waiting for a show. It would be nicer if you could bring 8-9 year olds in supervised as the kids club felt too young and the teen club wasn’t available to them yet.
Entertainment- The entertainment team was always busy putting on beach activities in the day or near the pool. Night shows changed every evening and were good. Kids got to join in on stage at the beginning and was a fan favourite.

Rooms – Rooms were perfect for our family of 5! King bed , bunk bed with double on the bottom and a trundle. Now they are not anything fancy and are dated décor wise but that isn’t something I look for in a family resort . Room location kind of sucks, it’s the furthest from the buffet and beach. There is a trolley but we found it quicker to walk, we never minded walking with the extra food and drinks we were consuming .
Conclusion- All in all a great family property …if priced well and we will tell you if it is priced higher than what we would pay to stay here. We spent 10 days here and that sometimes feels too long at an all inclusive but the staff and inclusions made it a fun vacation that we were not ready to leave.
